Making Waterloo "Brite"

Brite Winter is proud to partner with Ingenuity Cleveland, Waterloo Arts and Praxis Fiber Workshop on our visual arts program this year. Thanks to all of you who joined us during our four workshops to help with the art installations.

Here’s a preview of what you’ll see at Brite Winter and the talented minds behind each of these installations:

A large-scale installation using LED lights to create a pair of glowing spotlights against a background. The image it creates lends itself to spontaneous photo opportunities for Brite Winter attendees.

Staas K. (lead artist) with installation support from the Ingeneers

Created by Staas K, a Cleveland-based string art artist, this immersive, glowing geometric installations uses UV light, thread and architectural space to transform environments into luminous sculptural experiences.

Katie Shelton (lead artist) , Dina Hoeynck (lead artist) , Troy Blum, Ross Bochnek,Dave Boutton, John Dido, Morgan Ferweda, Sarah Wilson, Issa Vybe and the Ingeneers.

The glowing frames will also act as landmarks, marking entrances and music stages while celebrating the neighborhood’s vibrant energy.

Praxis Fiber Workshop

Light Up Waterloo Lanterns

Artist: Jessica Pinsky

Praxis Fiber Workshop illuminates Waterloo with community-painted fabric lanterns created in collaboration with neighborhood residents. Using sponsor-provided DayGlo paint, participants worked together to paint more than 55 yards of fabric that transformed into 100 lanterns and were installed throughout the district. The project highlights hands-on participation, shared authorship and visibility for the Waterloo Arts District during one of Cleveland’s most active winter events. When lit, the lanterns create a bold, high-impact installation that reflects the energy of the community and brings attention to local businesses, organizations and public space.
